How to make tea (Chai) in a few easy steps

 Making tea is a simple process. Each person has their way of making tea like using different proportions of ingredients or using different ingredients according to how they like it.

This is one way of making one cup of tea which can be tailored for taste and multiplied according to the number of cups needed.

  • Take 3/4th cup of water and boil it (Optional: Add a bit of chopped ginger or elaichi/cardamom)
  • Add 1/2 tablespoon tea powder
  • Add a pinch of tea masala
  • Add sugar as needed
  • Let this boil for a minute and the add 1/4th cup of milk.
  • When the milk boils, turn off the heat and filter out the tea powder.

Now, enjoy your hot cup of tea or chai!

Chai is an interesting take on tea because it contains spices and herbs like cardamom, ginger, pepper and cloves etc while tea does not.

Chai can also be called masala tea because of this. Both may or may not contain milk based on preference.
